El Vuh Speaks Out Against SB1070

El Vuh is a Los Angeles-based hip hop group that promotes the Chicano movement through culturally-respectful lyrics that embrace their heritage. The concerts they offer, like the one in Tucson, are for all ages and I have no problem with my daughter listening to their music. In fact, it's wonderful to give her that type of exposure to her culture. How nice to have music with a decent message that our children can learn from.

El Vuh has stepped into the political arena by speaking out against Arizona's SB1070. For the group's healthy fan base, it is easy to see why their voice is so valuable. Any time art speaks to our youth, we must respect the emotions and feelings they nourish and promote. In this case, El Vuh offers a sense of cultural pride and desire to respect one another by reaching our own full potential and embracing personal responsibility. Who wouldn't want to get behind that? Their mix of traditional hip-hop blended with ancient Mayan drumbeats and flutes indulge listeners in something new and inspiring.

Please take a listen to El Vuh which is comprised of Zero, E-RISE and Victor-E. They have an upcoming concert in Tucson which is mentioned in the following press release. They can be found on Youtube, Itunes, Facebook, Myspace, on Twitter,  and their website.
